Hey guys,
Another Monday, another discussion journal..

I've been trying for months now to avoid politics in one of these but ugh.. UGH, I gotta cave on this one.
Tomorrow I get to vote in the primaries.  Voting is a really important thing.

I remember growing up and learning about politics in school.  It was the most boring thing ever and I despised every second of it through and through!  I never thought I'd be someone who could ever be interested in politics and honestly, until I turned 18 I wasn't.
Politics didn't interest me because I had no clue just how much they affected my life.  I was an ignorant kid that had no real understanding of how the world works (even if I thought I did) and as such, I lived in this weird little bubble where politics had zero effect on me (or so I thought!).

The reality is that politics affect all of us, whether we choose to accept that reality or remain ignorant to it.  That's just  how it is.  If the government puts laws into place that dictate what we can and can't do, if the government deregulates and we suddenly don't have things like clean water or clean air anymore as a result.. clearly that affects us all, no?

So look, we have an entire circus this year, all trying to run for POTUS.  Thankfully most of the clowns got out of the car over the past few months, but it's scary to think that some are still going strong.

I'm about as liberal as they come.  I grew up in a country where social programs (like Bernie Sanders is proposing) not only work, but the economy doesn't crash as a result of them (like people want to claim they do).  To me it's a breath of fresh air to see someone running who wants to push our country in the direction of actually giving a shit about our people, and not just giving a shit about campaign contributors!

So clearly I'm biased with my liberal views and all, I get that.  What I don't get is this blind love for Donald Trump.

Last night I got a call from a Trump supporter.  It was a pre-recorded message by a woman who was boasting about how great Trump is and how he'd do great things for our country if elected POTUS etc etc.. As much as it annoys and scares the shit out of me that people can support a man like Trump in any way I wanted to hear what the message had to say.

Guys, ...

"Trump supports women."

I... I just... are you fucking kidding me?!!!>??!@!!!
I'm not even going to get into all the reasons Trump would make an awful POTUS, and I'll do my best to bite my tongue and not call all Trump supporters fucking idiots (sorry, not sorry!) but for all of you who are eligible to vote in the primaries and haven't yet, I beg you to reconsider throwing your vote at Trump (or any of the candidates for that matter).

Research the candidates beyond "my neighbor said so and so is awesome" and "this *insert single radio/TV station/Newspaper here* said good things about so and so".
Use a lick of common sense.  Does the candidate have a plan in place (other than, we'll make Mexico build a wall) that is reasonable and actually makes sense?  Does the candidate have policies you believe in?  Educate yourself on how much of your tax money gets spent on what.  Think of long term effects of things....

If you can do proper research and still believe that Trump's bigotry and lack of any real plan for change would be great for our country, then by all means, put the same amount of effort into getting out to vote as you did researching him and his policies, the rest of us will thank you for it :P

I don't have any real questions this week, just kinda open for discussion I guess.
Throw your thoughts at me!

Well... we are down to Trump and Clinton... a megalomaniac and a nightmare. (As military, we HATED Bill... who did NOTHING after the 1993 WTC bombing, the Khobar Towers, and then, ONLY to distract from Monica Lewinsky, launched 4 missiles at a mountain after the U.S.S. Cole was attacked. Her record with the military is no better.) I fear for either one, and hope... desperately... that Trump's ridiculous statements have been for free publicity, rather than actuality. One can only wait and see once the debates begin.

I hope General Mattis runs in 2020... we haven't had a master strategist as a president in a while.
