Hello all,
a little late today, but it's still Monday for me so :P

This week I'd like to talk about recipes and meal planning and preparation.

I live with my boyfriend and 2 children.  The boyfriend isn't picky at all and will just go with the flow no matter what I make for dinner.  The kids however are not nearly as easy going.

My oldest is fairly tolerant of many foods, and even if he dislikes them he will sit and eat with a sour look on his face because we told him to.
My youngest on the other hand absolutely will not eat 99% of things that are not candy or some other kind of sweet treat.  He has limited his diet to chicken nuggets, hotdogs, sandwiches, sloppy joes, swedish meatballs, and pizza!  Oh and lunchables...

Needless to say, trying to decide what to make for dinner is always a challenge and grocery shopping is absolutely dreadful because it always goes like this:

Me: Hey, what do we want for dinners?
Boyfriend: I dono?
Me: Well, what should we have?
Boyfriend: Whatever is fine.
Me: Well, I guess we could make (insert some kind of casserole or such here), but I don't really want to eat that.
...
Me: So, what do we want for dinners?
Me: Hey kids, what do you want to eat for dinners?
Drake: I dono?
Kenji: KOOLAID!
Me: :|

As you can see, I'm a big part of the problem here too, and it doesn't help that I can be a really picky eater as well.  Each week is a struggle and on the weeks that I am in a mood where I don't like most foods (which is fairly often) most of our dinners turn into "whatever dinners" which means find something in the kitchen and eat it if you want to have dinner.

I am always on the search for delicious dinners that are easy and quick to make (I am not a fan of standing in the kitchen, and neither is my back) but searching the internet usually leaves me irritated because I have no desire to do 'fancy' cooking, and most of the kids stuff is crap none of us will eat :(  #firstworldproblems

So this week's task for you is to share with me the following:

  • What's your favorite dinner?
  • Can you share the recipe for it?
  • Do you ever struggle with finding things your whole family will eat?
  • How do you handle those struggles?
  • Show me deviations of yummy food!

My quiche is a hit with everyone, though my family likes the "spinach variant," you can hardly go wrong with a bacon, (I use turkey bacon.) egg, and cheese PIE.
I have a photo of it in my gallery (food and drink folder, IIRC) somewhere.
