Wow, Katy applied herself and look what happened D:
Shock horror! Anyways.. I spent 10 hours livestreaming this, though I must admit.. I spent an hour of that in an appointment, and some time also for making dinner etc. So I will estimate I spent 8 to 8 and a half hours on this piece total.

[link]So.. first things first. I did use a reference photo:

(next time I will find a white horse as a reference when drawing Dream because shading and figuring out what colors to use was a bit of a nightmare for me)
The bubble fish are recycled from this piece:

Dream is probably one of my all time favorite characters, even though I tend to favor Mystica over her from time to time. It is time to draw more of Dream, so hopefully we will get to see more of her soon..
The first thing I noticed about this, was that hind leg stretched out. Initially, I thought she was missing a hoof! It took me a bit to realize that there was leg feathering. So my first bit of advice would be to add a drop shadow of some sort to separate the feathering on that leg from the tail.
The second thing I noticed was the other hind leg; the one primarily in shadow. This might just be personal preference, so if you disagree feel free to ignore this advice. I'd like to see a more gradual shadow, instead of one flat color. Something darker up towards the butt. Also a little more darker muscle detail.
The last thing would probably be that heavy drop shadow behind Dream. It looks somewhat as if she's angled against a wall? I'm not sure if that was the desired effect or not. There's a really awesome trick to shadows that I can show you sometime; basically you can flatten the subject into one separate layer (ctrl alt shift E), make it black/a dark color, put a slight blur on it, and then use free transform to angle it appropriately. It's a good way to get a shadow that matches your subject. Not a perfect method, but a good one to start with.
